Poem: “A Breakthrough”

It seems that every day is battle. The wind beats my face, the birds taunt me.
I can break through.
The words people throw at me stab, cut, scrape, and rub me wrong. They are toxin to my self-esteem.
I can break through.
My family rejects me, my friends betray me, the job upsets me, and my lover degrades me.
I can break through.
Born with the power of an ox, the heart of gold, the wit of a rabbit, and the intelligence of a scholar.
I can break through.
Tomorrow will come to bring a new day, life is not ended, it has merely begun.
I can and will break through.

Blink!
Most of us glide through life thinking it’s forever til it ends
We go through the motions of laughing with friends
All we have is 100 years to live it up before time runs out
Some of us search for a purpose high and low and all about
Us humans dash through life like it’s some kind of race
Why not love each memory and keep a steady pace
Try new things and take a chance
So then the next time you look back it won’t just be a glance
No person knows what the future holds
But we need to offer ourselves to God to be the molds
Everyday we try the best we can to live laugh and love
The best way to do that is to give praise to the one above
Be true to yourself and whatever you bring along
Think of your life as your favorite song
Keep your head up and try not to think
Cause the moment you do…that’s when life happens in a blink!

This poem is really touching! I especially like how after each line you reminded yourself that you can break through. No matter what the circumstance or negative feelings that are around you.
