Poetry: “Lost In This”

I never even knew,

What I was getting myself into,

My lukewarm feelings turned hot,

Because of you,

If it was left to me,

Nothing would've ever happened,

I never would've made a move,

But you were the heat that set,

My heart ablaze a fire blue,

With flames burning only for you

You are the voice in my head,

What I'm all about

The cozy loving fantasy,

I don't want to get out,

I always figured,

If things got too heavy,

I could always find a way out,

But I'm too immersed,

To even want to leave now,

So I'm stuck in this love,

No one else can understand,

Sometimes I wonder if I'm crazy,

But I have bigger problems at hand,

Reality calls me on the phone,

Knock, knock, knocking on the door,

Voicemail after voicemail,

But I can't leave you alone,

Can't come to the phone,

I'm in fantasy world,

Wait until I'm alone,

Then guilt trip me for abandoning,

All that I know,

There's a fork in the road,

Conflicting ideas on where I should go,

Decision time,

Where will I go?

You hold me tight,

I move closer,

Wanting to abandon all that I know,

For this love so warm,

Feeling chilled from looks so cold,

I turn to see,

The abandoned want me to come home,

They unwrap your arms

"You've hurt us enough,"

They say to let you go

Here I am,

Still staring at the fork in the road,

Eyes blurred from tears,

I don't where I should go,

Where is my home?

I wish I knew.
