Michala Todd’s first E.P., Millions of Pieces, starts with an 80s pop-infused bang! The first track, “Make It Work,” sets the undeniably enjoyable pop rock tone for the rest of the album. Each of the six tunes on the E.P. compliment each other very well and are perfect for singing along. Millions of Pieces demonstrates the work of a musically gifted young songstress; Michala’s tunes are great and the messages in her music only make it better.

Millions of Pieces offers a wide variety of pop rock beats in a rainbow of different tempos. Michala shows her intimate side with lullaby-like songs such as “In Between” and “The Dare.” These slow-tempo tunes are soothing and very pleasant to listen to. While Michala’s softer songs were excellent, I preferred the E.P.’s up-beat, full-fledged pop songs. “Make It Work” and “Invisible” were personal favorites. The varieties of tempos on the E.P. ensure a song for everyone, which is definitely a bonus!

Michala is a Canadian pop rock artist who wants to make a mark through more than just an amazing voice and bouncy beats; she also wants to make a statement with her lyrics. Millions of Pieces features an assortment of topics that make this E.P. relatable and meaningful. In “Make It Work,” a song about keeping on top of a hectic schedule, Michala creates an ode to busy student life that is relatable and fresh. Other standouts are “To Say You’re Sorry,” about finding the strength to apologize in hard times, and “The Dare,” a song about accepting yourself and believing in who you are.

We may have had only a taste of Michala Todd’s music so far, but her bubbly music and excellent lyrics have definitely won me over. Millions of Pieces by Michala Todd is one E.P. you won’t regret adding to your music library!
