Katy Perry: Part of Me not only captures my attention because of its gum-drop, fairy-tailed sets and whipped cream-shooting brassieres, but because of its raw depiction of Katy Perry. In all honesty, before watching this movie I pictured Katy Perry as a spunky, simple, and perfect Barbie. However, I now realize how complex Katy really is, and how her life and past is anything but simple.
Part of Me encompasses Katy’s self-built career, from her tween years singing biblical songs to her teens when she decided to move away from home to pursue singing her own types of music. It also captures Katy’s rocky road of a relationship with Russell Brand, and how she was able to hide the pain.
This movie is a journey, and makes me realize how strong, independent, and down-to-earth Katy Perry is. She knows her priorities, and one of them is pleasing her fans, which made me very admiring of her. This movie was funny, sad, and moving, just like Katy’s life. I recommend it if you’re in the mood to see a feel-good, empowering film!
