Sucharita S. K. Varanasi, Esq.
Sucharita Varanasi grew up in Bethel, CT." She received a dual B.A. from Tufts University in economics and international relations." While at Tufts, Ms. Varanasi captained the varsity tennis team and participated in the Education for Public Inquiry and International Citizenship (EPIIC) symposium "Race and Ethnicity"." After graduating from Tufts," Ms. Varanasi spent a few years on Wall Street as an Investment Banking Analyst at JPMorgan Chase, working primarily on mergers and acquisitions in the financial institutions group. " In 2003, she received a fully-subsidized fellowship through the American India Foundation called the Service Corps Fellowship, to do service work in India for a non-profit organization in Bangalore, India focusing on child labor issues. " In trying to further her commitment to community and justice issues, Ms. Varanasi pursued a J.D. from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, GA." While at Emory Law, she served as a board member of the Law School's Women's Group, LAWS, and helped raise over $2,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Currently, Ms. Varanasi is a practicing attorney at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP as a public finance associate. " She advises municipalities and non-profit organizations with their financial needs, primarily through bond issuances." During her time at the firm, she has started the Citizen School's after-school writing program, has completed over 120 hours of pro-bono service, and has served as a mentor" for various students through the Steppingstone Foundation and the Boston Lawyers Group. She" resides in Cambridge with her husband, Kishore, and enjoys running, bike riding, playing tennis, reading and cooking.
