Meet the Artists!

July {Nature}

Deni Lance, 17, Pennsylvania

“My piece is a water color, and is straight from my imagination,” she wrote. “I got
the winter idea while looking through old winter photos and ran with it.”

June {Dreams}

Zenia Olivo, 14, New York

"My dream is to start my art career in a big influential city like NY & I see myself in a huge blank canvas drawing & painting until I have made it there."

 May {Sports}

Nurul Huda, 14, Malaysia

Huda told us that she drew the piece when she was 9 years old. “It shows a girl playing a ball in a village,” she said. “Far away from hustle and bustle of the city.”

April {Power and Leadership}

Jayantika Arora, 19, India

“My art depicts the strength and power that every girl in this world possesses. She carries a power to give life, a power that helps her to carry the world inside her. And as she discovers this power, she will find herself leading her way through a journey of bliss and conquest.”

March {Beauty is More Than Skin Deep}

Kristin Huff, 17, Virginia

"I was inspired to create this one night when I was flipping through a magazine and I became so frustrated with how much the media emphasizes what ‘beauty’ is. The media promotes negative ways to be beautiful rather than embracing natural beauty.”

February {Love}

Elsa Moseley, 15, Oklahoma

“For us girls, love is to show others—especially those left out, bullied, abused, or lost—their true inner beauty, each one of us being unique. Every girl has a great purpose in life, no matter what the world says, and every girl deserves to be truly loved. Love is believing in yourself, following your dreams, helping others, making a difference, being courageous, and standing up for what's right. But most of all, love is unconditional.”

January {Girls in Schools}

Dina Alassaad, 16, Lebanon

"Reading the phrase 'Girls in Schools,' I looked at my books, looked at the photographs on my bedroom wall, [and I] had a flashback to what people say about my voice when I sing. And I thought, girls in schools don't know who they are, what the future holds, or which route to take."

  3. Hi, I was wondering what day would I have to send my art if I am entering the July theme? I would really love an answer please. Thank you very much, Edith <3

  4. Hi-
    You can send it in any time, but just be sure to indicate that it is for the JULY contest, not June. Thanks.

  5. when does the work art for july have to be send or is it to late???

  6. Sorry, but it's too late. It was due July 31 and the voting is now going on on Facebook, so it's too late to add new entries. I hope you will submit to our August AOM contest. The theme is global connections.

  7. I won the artist for July and wondered when it was going to be up on the meet the artist

  8. Hi-Your photo and artwork are now up. Sorry for the wait. Without any staff, we are dependent on the kindness of volunteers.
