As teen girls we all want to have the freedom to talk to new people and make new friends—it's one of the reasons why we talk online and have webpages. We may think that online communication is easy and fun, but in reality there are potential risks to meeting people online. Communicating with people via instant messaging or one of the many social networking sites can be the cool way to stay in touch, but teens need to know how to stay safe while meeting "virtual" strangers.

Online Diaries: Where's the Privacy?

For Every Bad, There's Good

What if anyone with an internet connection could read your private diary? Erika Sorocco gives her take on online journaling, and Teen Voices helps you come up with your own privacy policy.

Meeting online friends in person can be a risky idea, but if you're smart and cautious like Erica Cuevas, you can make a positive connection in cyberspace.

Are you using MySpace or other social networking sites? How do you stay safe when you are meeting people online? Have you had any problems?
