Women of the Century: 100 Years of American Heroes
Pui Ka Yuen, 14 Massachusetts
"Women of the Century" is created by The Discovery Channel for their Web site, DiscoverySchool.com This informative and interesting site is aimed at students, especially girls, but anyone can learn from it. The purpose of the Web site is to educate people about influential women and inspire girls to pursue their own dreams.
A lot of information is available on the site. It categorizes more than 50 important women of the 20th century by decade and field of achievement, which makes the site very easy to navigate. It also gives a short biography of each woman, her accomplishments, and gives links to explore further. My favorite thing about the site is the broad range of women it profiles and the links it has for additional information; however, I thought the profiles were too short. I wanted to know a bit more about the women without having to go to another site.
Technically, the Web site was very good; I had no trouble accessing it. All the links I followed were functional, and the loading time was reasonable, except a faster connection would be good for the pictures.
"Women of the Century" achieves its purpose of instructing and inspiring. It should have more information about the women, but other than that, it was very good. I would definitely visit it again and recommend it to my friends.
